Project: Optimization of aggregate grading
My general research interests include:
• Cementitious materials
• Optimization
• Computational fluid dynamics
My current research project deals with optimizing the aggregate grading used in concrete. The objective is to reduce the amount of cement utilized in a concrete mixture by maximizing the volume fraction of the aggregates without compromising the strength and workability of the concrete.
Biography
Jon joined Prof. Scherer’s group as a postdoctoral research associate in March 2013. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering in August 2012 from the Technical University of Denmark. His doctoral research work dealt with numerical modeling of form filling with self-compacting concrete.
