Tim Wangler and Rosa Espinosa present papers at

11th International Congress on Deterioration and Conservation of Stone in Torun, Poland

Tim Wangler gave a talk entitled, Swelling damage mechanism for clay-bearing sandstones, by P. Duffus, T. Wangler, and G.W. Scherer. It describes a novel buckling mechanism by which, we believe, clay-bearing stones delaminate during wetting. The paper will be published in the proceedings of the meeting.

Dr. Rosa Espinosa presented a poster entitled, Study of the Pore clogging induced by crystallization in Indiana Limestone, which will be published in the proceedings, and a second poster entitled, Investigation of the Crystallization of  Sodium Sulphate in Limestone by using the Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer and the Differential Scanning Calorimetry, based on more recent work that is presently being prepared for publication in a journal.
