Sonia Naidu presented her research on a “Phosphate Consolidant for Limestone and Marble” at a meeting entitled, “Jardin de Pierres”. The meeting was dedicated to the preservation of stone in public places, such as gardens and cemeteries. Sonia is developing a method of protecting marble by depositing a protective film of hydroxyapatite (the mineral in our teeth and bones). The potential benefits of this treatment are so promising that she was invited to Versailles, where the conservators will be testing her methods.
