CEE 364 Materials in Civil Engineering

This course is now taught by Prof. Claire White.

This is a lecture and lab course on the materials science of steel, concrete, asphalt and wood. The sequence of lectures and labs is listed below. Most students find the labs to be the best part (not that lectures aren’t sterling). Particularly popular is the Concrete Strength Contest, in which each lab group competes to make concrete with the highest tensile strength. We also visit a cement plant to see how cement is made. Check out the photos of some of the lab classes to see why materials science is fun!
