Crushing Ductile Concrete

Ductility from Nylon Fibers

Concrete is naturally brittle, but it can be made quite ductile by adding a small amount of polymeric or metallic fibers. The samples in this video contain ~0.5 weight % nylon fibers. Such fibers are used (at much lower concentrations) to suppress superficial cracks during drying of concrete slabs.
