Emily Weissinger

Hi, my name is Emily Weissinger and I will be a senior at Princeton University in the fall of 2008.  I am majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on Environmental Engineering.

This summer I am working with the Scherer Group and Sulapha Peenthamparan to model the kinematics of the settling of cement.  I will be conducting experiments using a Vicat needle apparatus, a Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) analyzer and an apparatus that measures chemical shrinkage.

My future research interests involve aquifers in the southwest and artificial recharging projects.  Eventually, I would like to investigate the impact of source water on native aquifer water quality.

Measurement of volume change (chemical shrinkage) during hydration of cement particles. These results will be used to find the degree of reaction at the setting point.
