Project: Consolidation of Itararé Sandstone

Danielle Grossi received her MSc in Science from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2013, where she worked on the evaluation of the conservation state of the Monument to Ramos de Azevedo using nondestructive methods. She is working on her PhD which aims to assess the behavior of Itararé Sandstone, which has expansive clays, through the application of consolidants and swelling inhibitors.
Research Interests:
- Conservation of Stone buildings
- Study of the behavior of consolidants using a weathering chamber
- Evaluation of products to reduce the swelling of clays and prolong rock durability
- Non-destructive methods of characterization
